Line up the two parts so that the colour you want in the centre is the inner part. Insert the larger blade of the outer part into the slid below the smaller blade of the other. Turn the heart to the other side and do the same here. When you weave the central part the strip is much wider than the slid you have to put it into. Make a soft bend and straighten afterwards. A pair of tweezers is a handy tool.

28 07 2010In order to make room for weaving and to be able to flatten the heart you must cut out two slices near the central strip. The last strip may be troublesome if you do not take care to push the first strips as far back as possible. Do not start flattening until all weaving is done.
The colouring above is a bit of a trick of the light. Look here for a more honest representation. The other hearts are just less successful trials.
