This Sweetheart basket is made to resemble the small silver scent boxes, that Scandinavian girls were given as love tokens by their fiancé in the period around the year 1800. The crown does not refer to royalty. It symbolises that the girl when married shall be the sovereign queen of the household. It is important that the crown is closed and not pointed. A closed crown indicates sovereignty. If the crown is open it refers to the crown worn by a bride and indicates a proposal.  

The heart is made just like any other joined heart. However using a little more gluing than usual. This is because the slid used for joining is very short. It pays to crease and then glue stick together the two pieces that form each half of the heart before joining. Line them up carefully considering that the central line should not show the inner piece where not planned and fix with glue. Cut the short joining slids as deep as you dare without separating the piece. Take care that one should be from the top and one from below. Join with caution. Line up the two parts so that the patterns of the small squares are aligned and there is no opening at the central line. Fix with glue. Add the handle you prefer.

This joined heart is very much like Joined Basket #020 Roses. I have just made the leaves bigger, so that they may be easier to cut out by hand.

Also this Joined Basket #020 is made just like Joined Heart with Flowers. Print the 4 sheets in the 4 different rose colours you like. Cut out. First join one face. Then use paperclips to keep the sheets in place. Now join the other – with patience. The stems are fragile. Use a little glue here and there along the center line to keep everything fixed in place. Add the handle.

Joined Basket #019 is made just like Joined Heart with Flowers. Print the 4 sheets in the 4 different colours you like. Cut out. Join with patience. Add the handle. Use a little glue here and there along the center line to keep everything fixed in place.

Star #007 is woven and made in the same way as Star #001. This star has, however, six points in order to make the pattern fit. The individual points are rather stressing to make. They are simple to weave but until everything has fallen into place they look like a mess. If you have tried Heart #003 you will know what I mean. Observe I only pre-crease one part along the central lines. You crease the other after weaving and lining up. You will need quite a lot of gluing down strips in order to keep everything in place. When you glue the points together turn every second so that the pattern mirrors.

Star #006 is made using the joining principle. The process takes some time, but it is not difficult.

Cut out 12 pieces in 6 different colours, two of each. First make the 12 five faced points by scoring along the dotted lines, creasing, and gluing using the narrow slip. Take care that they all swirl in the same direction. Join two points in different colours using the cut below the smaller triangles and glue each down flat to the larger face of the other point. Take a new point in a new colour and join this to the two you already have joined. Fix in the same way. Take another and continue until 5 points of different colours are fixed to the first at all faces where this appears to be easy. Now you select a location to fix the next point. You must now chose the colour appearing at the point opposite to this. Continue fixing and selecting the right colour until all points are joined. Before you fix the last point you may add a piece of string to hang the star.

This Star #005 is just like Star #002. It may be a little more difficult to weave. In particular you must take care not to tear the narrow strips, when you strive to fit a fat and folded strip through a narrow loop.

Star #004 is much like Star #003. I have, however, made the central point a little longer than the rest. I think the star looks more in balance this way. The outer colour is yellow, the inner is orange. The sunlight makes the star glow.

This star is just cut, not woven. Each point is made from 2 layers. To make the pattern fit the inner point is a little smaller, than the outer. Make the star following the directions on the first sheet for printing.
