Joined Basket #023

3 03 2012

This basket is made from two individual joined baskets. Each made from four pieces. One basket is dumped into the other. And then there is a small heart dumped into the inner basket to form the point. The baskets are probably a bit over the top if you do not have a cutting machine and even then you have to be vary patient.

And the files for cutting: joined 23 cut 1 ; joined 23 cut 2 ; joined 23 cut 3 ; joined 23 cut 4 ; joined 23 cut 5 ; joined 23 cut 6 ; joined 23 cut 7 ; joined 23 cut 8

Mobile #001 Balloon

25 02 2012

Anna has designed and made the pattern for these cute small hot air balloons. Make a mobile and watch them fly and turn perpetually.

For each balloon cut two sheets in the colours you prefer. All strips are joined already and you only need to weave as described for Sphere #001. Use the glue stick to fix the strips at the edge when finished. Choose the basket pieces from the same colour as the top centre of the balloon. Make the small circular basket by gluing together bottom and sides. Form a circle from the wheel like shape and fix to the small basket as shown on the pictures. Now smear glue on both inner side of ‘wheel’ and outer side of lower edge of the balloon. Press gently together. Any inaccuracy will be dimmed. To hang the balloon make a small hole in the centre of the top and fix a piece of string tying a pearl or like to the end inside the balloon.

For the mobile on the pictures we used five balloons and 4 slim wooden sticks (12, 12, 16 and 24 cm).

Teddy’s Theatre: Spider Set

10 09 2011

The Enchanted Forest is inhabited by giant spiders. The spiders are loosely fixed to the web by entangling their legs. Move the spiders around and add as many as you like. You may use the Spider Set as an overlay for the Enchanted Forest Set or any other location you want to make scary. You find the print files at the Theatre Page.

Teddy’s Theatre: Cloud Set

4 09 2011

Teddy is much fascinated by old fashioned cloud machinery. Unfortunately his Theatre is not steady enough to support a heavy flexible gadget. Teddy must make do with a fixed set up.

You find the set pieces at the Theatre Page. When you cut out, take care to take away all of the darker line along the openings.

Teddy’s Theatre: Enchanted Backdrop

2 09 2011

You will find a new Enchanted Forest backdrop at the Theatre Page. The backdrop goes well with the various set pieces for tent and cogwheels. Anna dropped by for the weekend and sketched the design. I did the colouring.

Teddy’s Theatre: Tent Inside

28 08 2011

With this new set piece the scene quickly transforms into the interior of Teddy’s Tent. You find the set piece at the Theatre Page.

Teddy’s Theatre: Tente d’Agamemnon

23 08 2011

Visiting Drottningholm we were so lucky to acquire a copy of Barbro Stribolt’s Scenery from Swedish Court Theatres. The book includes reproductions of all still existing set pieces from the time of Gustav III and some sketches. Teddy studied the book carefully and decided that the set pieces he liked best were those of Tente d’Agamemnon. The  sketches were made by Jacob Mörck in 1786 – possibly derived from an original by J.D. Dugourc. The tent would fit Teddy’s outing to the Enchanted Forest perfectly. I made a simple reinterpretation. The set pieces are now included at the Theatre Page. However, I realize there is still a serious need of a proper enchanted forest backdrop.

Teddy at Drottningholm

15 07 2011

Teddy and I went to Stockholm to study Swedish court theatres and royal follies from the time of Gustav III. In particular Teddy wanted to check out the theatre at Drottningholm Palace. We had a thorough look and even went back stage and pulled the ropes of the thunder machine. Later we admired the Chinese Pavilion and the Dragoon Guards’ tent. We went to Haga Park to see the Sultan’s copper tents, to Ulriksdal Palace and to Gripsholm Castle also housing beautiful theatres. At Gripsholm we had a chance to go below stage to study the wooden mechanisms for changing the set pieces.

Teddy’s Theatre: Cogwheels

30 04 2011

Teddy is very curious about the Enchanted Forest and has decided to explore it. He has left the sunny path and ventured into the unknown. Soon he discovers that everything is not quite natural nor logic.

You will find print files for the set on the Theatre Page.

Teddy’s Theatre: Enchanted forest backcloth

20 03 2011

I have added a backcloth for the enchanted forest. You find it on the Theatre Page. Anna made a quick sketch and I did the colouring.
