Heart #016

This is my “full surface” version of a “town heart” like the one by Karsten Blem.

The heart is somewhat difficult to weave. When weaving check the picture to make sure you get the sequence right. Near the blades some weaving is omitted. You should line up the two parts after weaving each strip. And in no case you must use violence. If the parts will not line up you must identify the cause and sort it out.  A pair of tweezers is a handy tool.

Cut out the two different parts in different colours (here pink and red). Cut also a handle (here red).

   

Crease the two pieces along their symmetry line and place them next to each other. The letters and the colours are those used in the instructions.

Place the red piece on top of the pink piece.

Weave strips a and b as one around strips B, C D and E.

Strip A goes between the red layers.

Draw out strips C, D and E from the loops of strips a and b.

Strips a and b together goes into the loop of strip C.

Strip a alone goes also into the loop of strip D and around strip E.

Strip b goes around strip D and into the loop of strip E.

Remember to line up.

Strip c goes into the loop of strip B, around strip C, into the loop of strip D and around strip E.

Strip d goes around strip B, into the loop of strip C, around strip D and into the loop of strip E.

Strip e goes into the loop of strip B, around strip C, into the loop of strip D and around strip E.
