Heart #016

This is my “full surface” version of a “town heart” like the one by Karsten Blem.

The heart is somewhat difficult to weave. When weaving check the picture to make sure you get the sequence right. Near the blades some weaving is omitted. You should line up the two parts after weaving each strip. And in no case you must use violence. If the parts will not line up you must identify the cause and sort it out.  A pair of tweezers is a handy tool.

Cut out the two different parts in different colours (here pink and red). Cut also a handle (here red).

Crease the two pieces along their symmetry line and place them next to each other. The letters and the colours are those used in the instructions.

Place the red piece on top of the pink piece.

Weave strips a and b as one around strips B, C D and E.

Strip A goes between the red layers.

Draw out strips C, D and E from the loops of strips a and b.

Strips a and b together goes into the loop of strip C.

Strip a alone goes also into the loop of strip D and around strip E.

Strip b goes around strip D and into the loop of strip E.

Remember to line up.

Strip c goes into the loop of strip B, around strip C, into the loop of strip D and around strip E.

Strip d goes around strip B, into the loop of strip C, around strip D and into the loop of strip E.

Strip e goes into the loop of strip B, around strip C, into the loop of strip D and around strip E.

    • Dear Ann
Thank you so much for your fine presentation of my woven hearts. It is always nice to be appreciated. Today the traffic on my blog has been busier than ever. I am glad I learned about your “all things paper” blog. I much enjoyed discovering quilling and its potential through your video and posts. I just have to try the folded roses.

  1. Hi Lene, you’re so welcome; thank you! I’m happy to have introduced you to quilling and hope you’ll give it a try. Something tells me you’ll be a natural at it!

  2. Hello,

This is a very lovely design, but we are struggling to get the JPEG provided to cut in Silhouette Studio because the lines are too thick for us to trace. Do you possibly have a PDF of this design (which we can then convert to a DXF file and cut)?

    Many thanks,
    Susie

  3. Hello! Can you tell more details about how weaving this heart? Is this like weaving the bear heart?
    Greetings from Brasil!
    Esther

    • Hi Esther! I just prepared the heart again. I must admit that the instructions are too short and not very clear. Weaving is somewhat like the bear heart but there are differences. More directions and step by step drawings shall be added soon. Lene
